Dr. Herman G. Platt, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, began his pastorate at Wells Memorial Church of God In Christ in April of 2000. 

 

In 1974, while serving in the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa, Japan, Pastor Platt accepted the call to ministry.  In 1978 he was ordained by the late Bishop Ithiel Clemmons.

 

Pastor Platt graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree.  Following graduation, he transferred to the United States Navy Chaplains' Corp.  There he served until his retirement, which concluded 28 years of military service.  Pastor Platt also holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Brentwick University of the United Kingdom where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and is a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

 

 

Pastor Platt is married to Rosalind R. Platt.  To this union they have been blessed with three sons, Sigmund, Andreas and Simeon; one daughter, Itinie, and one grandchild, Asanti.
