The Christian Women’s Council is a COGIC auxiliary designed for the more mature women—age 50 and above. The specific purpose of the CWC is to provide education and training others in the principles and practices of holiness and godly living. Also, to promote love of God, love of mankind, love of the work of the Lord, and a spirit of oneness. We are also to provide natural, spiritual, and financial support to the church inclusive of the district, jurisdictional and national work.
The purpose of the CWC here at Wells Memorial COGIC is to invest in the lives of other women, i.e., women helping women, women understanding women, women having influence in the lives of other women by being available and never too busy to care. Our goal is to promote “mentoring” friendships between the older and younger women at Wells and to support and encourage them in every way possible.
Some of our projects have been: Seminars on Character and Ethics and How to Visit the Sick; Nursing Home Ministry; Urban Ministry; “The Heart of a Servant Awards Ceremony”; luncheons honoring our more senior saints and numerous fundraisers, including but not limited to: “Walk Into Your Season”, “The Bible—It Speaks to Me”, the publication of “A Taste of Wells” cookbook, and the annual Mother’s Day Souvenir Booklet.
