Supt. Dr. Herman G. Platt

Dr.Herman G. Platt is the pastor of Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ.

Dr. Platt was born a native to North Carolina in the city of Greensboro, and presently resides in Reidsville, North Carolina. In 1974, he accepted the call to ministry while serving with the Air Force in Okinawa, Japan, and was ordained in 1978 by Bishop Ithiel Clemmons at Wells Memorial. He returned to Okinawa, Japan, on a second tour and pastored Calvary Church of God in Christ. He operated in numerous capacities and established the church as the headquarters church of the Japan Jurisdiction. In 1984, Pastor Platt founded the Upper Room Church of God in Christ in Son Tong City, Osan, Korea. He returned to the U.S. and completed seminary training at various institutions. Following graduation, he transferred to the United States Navy Chaplains' Corp and served until he retired from the military with 28 years of service.

Pastor Platt holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and is a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary, Forth Worth, TX, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, and a certificate of completion as a Clinical Pastoral Education Clinician for the United States Navy. Pastor Platt has also undertaken additional studies toward a Master's in Human Resources at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. Most importantly, he works on his finals for heaven every day as a saved, sanctified, and Holy Ghost-filled saint.

In April of 2000, Dr. Platt became Pastor of the Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ and serves under the leadership of Bishop Leroy J. Woolard, Jurisdictional Bishop of Greater North Carolina. In May 2010, he was elevated to the office of Superintendent of the Winston-Salem District in the Greater North Carolina Jurisdiction. Superintendent Platt is married to the former Rosalind R. Warren. They are blessed with three sons Sigmund, Andreas and Simeon, one daughter, Itinie, and four grandchildren to their union.
